Mochlos

Mochlos is a tranquil little fishing village located on the north east coast of Crete approximately 45km from Agios Nikolaos and approximately 35klms from Sitia town. The area can be accessed by car or even by boat.

Today Mochlos is a picturesque fishing village, which is largely unspoiled even by the recent influx of 'day trippers'. Across from the main restaurant area is a historic island. This can be reached by either a boat trip or for the more adventureous a 200 metre swim.

The area still has extensive Minoan remains, most of which are on the island and are still being excavated. The island holds great local significance and contains a small church and offers a great photo opportunity with views of the town 'Agios Nikolaos'. 

There are two pebble beaches with clear waters as well as many secluded bays ideal for snorkeling or picnics. There has also been a large investment plan to develop a new marina in the village of mochlos, allowing many more boast to enjoy the area. A few tavernas line the edge of the village where the warm sea breeze can be enjoyed with a traditional Cretan meal and local wine.

As Mochlos is centrally located between each major town, making it an ideal location for setting up permanent residence or even for a holiday home
