Palekastro is a large village (1100 inhabitants) with most people working in agriculture.  This is changing however into an area great for tourists, partly due to its good beaches but also the Greek hospitality. The village is set back from the sea. Palekastro is a living village, not a tourist resort. So it is lively all year round. The tourists who come as far are here are mainly looking for peace and quiet and what could be described as the 'real Crete'. There are a number of apartments, studios and a few small hotels as well as 'Rooms for rent'. Both in the village and near the beaches. This also includes plenty of restaurants situated both in the village and by the beaches. |

The enchanting and tranquil area of Xerocambos meaning 'dry valley' due to its mild climate for most of the year is located on the south east of Crete. There are two connecting roads to Xerocambos from Zakros and from Ziros and the drive to the village is outstanding down the long and windy road which offers breathtaking views. Mountains, olive groves, and magnificent isolated beaches boasting crystal clear waters and white sand make up the breath taking scenery making this one of the finest beaches in the Eastern side of Crete.

Sitia: The largest Unspoiled town in Crete.Built in the form of an amphitheater on the Eastern side of Crete in the prefecture (county) Lasithi. This truly traditional town has seen its fair share of investment in the recent years but still retains its rural charm. This is what makes Sitia so magical and distinct from other towns. Even in this over cautions world, parents still feel content with leaving their children to play in the town. This is in part due to the low crime rate but also the family atmosphere that exists in Sitia. |
